Classification Badges

Core progression showing rank and experience level

Complete your initial squadron induction and training.

Learn basic drill, security awareness, and complete your training logbook.

Complete foundational training in RAF history, airmanship, map reading, communications, and advanced drill.

Pass assessments in airmanship knowledge, navigation, and principles of flight.

Successfully complete three aviation subjects and pass online assessments.

Complete advanced aviation training (three subjects) and assessments. Must be 15+ years old.

Specialist skills and qualifications

Awarded for completing Blue Aviation training or participating in an induction flight.

Complete First Class Cadet plus 12 hours of radio training and pass assessment.

Complete St John Ambulance Youth First Aid course and pass assessment.

Complete leadership training course (may include overnight stay) at squadron or wing level.

Pass a practical music assessment on your chosen instrument.

Complete road marching training and successfully finish the international four-day Nijmegen march.

Complete training and three progressively longer marches.

Complete weapon training, pass safety tests, and demonstrate safe handling.

Complete the Space training course covering space science and technology.

Special recognition and external qualifications
